奥运加油！ Literally: Olympics Fill up with oil!

ao yun jia you

Ok...so that doesn't make sense. But the words 'jia you' do mean to fill with oil, also meaning to fill up your tank. This is the catchphrase that everyone cheers here. It makes more sense when you're cheering on a person. If you listen closely to the crowds cheering, that's what they're saying!

奥运加油！中国加油！Go the Olympics! Go China!

It's crazy over here at the moment. Everyone is excited about the Games. Particularly Pauly! We watched the opening ceremony and Paul is trying to watch as much as he can. They don't show too much Aussie stuff obviously, and due to broadcasting laws, nothing in English. We did watch Hackett's 400m today though. Probably not the best one to watch. Poor bugger. I'm looking forward to the table tennis! That will definitely be on. We've been watching a lot of weightlifting and some diving and gymnastics.

You can't miss much though. When I drag Paul out to eat we usually find a massive TV that is playing something. When I say massive, I mean a floor of a shopping centre...or maybe the side of a building!
