I'd just like to celebrate our first 2 weeks in China by stating that I have managed to achieve the seemingly impossible. I have managed to last this whole time without having to utilise a chinese squat toilet. Whether this be a result of impeccable hotel choices, unrivaled bowel movement scheduling (discounting the 2 days in our hotel room where said schedule was torn apart, shredded, burnt, recycled and then destroyed again) or a combination of both + a dash of luck, i am grateful to the lords of poo (once again, except for the day they struck me down...I'm sure I deserved it for some reason though, perhaps it was just poo karma).
Even yesterday, when we went to a tea museum in the middle of nowhere, the white reflected light of a western porcelain bowl called to me and said "Pauly, come here, rest your weay buttocks on my strong supportive lap and have your western way with me". And so I did.
However, we still have a long trip ahead of us and I doubt that this luck can keep up. I will take each day as it comes.
Wish me luck, and give me strength.
Pauly
